I painted parts of the mask to test color and the process. Details that need additional work become more visible.

Today my new table saw fence arrived. It is Delta T30 fence that should fit my Rigid table saw with minor modifications. We’ll see tomorrow if that’s correct information. It looks like it will be easy install but something always comes up.

This board was giving me a lot of trouble. It developed some cracks and when I fixed them a new ones show up. Then I decided to experiment a little bit. I heated the board with a heat gun to create as many cracks as I can. I added blue pigment to epoxy and filled the cracks. Here is the result.

I picked up the bandsaw today. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow and then I’ll spend a few days adjusting and testing. It was late this evening when I was far enough with assembly that I can turn it on. It is quiet and cuts wood like a butter.

Here is a quick photo of what I made yesterday. It is a test piece and turned out it is very practical. I’ll make more of these from different types of wood.

Bandsaw should be here tomorrow. I spent last few days rearanging the shop to make a place for it. It is incredible how many tools I have in this small space. After I finish I’ll make a shop tour video.

Almost forgot, i fixed the motor for disc sander. I opened it and put a teflon washer on the shaft and it looks it will work.

Cutting board is finished.

Two videos, replacing sand paper on the drum sander and test run for a disk sander. Shaft on the motor has about 1/8″ movement back and forth. That’s why the sander is so noisy. When I apply pressure to the disc (when sanding) it becomes very quiet. I am not sure yet how to fix it. Any ideas? Worst case, I’ll leave it as it is. Tomorrow I’ll start building the rest of the tool.

This is my first try in posting videos, which came with my new domain. It was slow, maybe because I was doing whole bunch of stuff on the computer at the same time.

This is a setup I made to take a video for furniture design contest. I will post video after we finish editing. I said we because I did the camera work but my daughter is going to do the editing for me.

I am making a new cutting board to surprise a friend on Thursday. I hope I will be able to finish it. Design and build in two days (you have to wait for glue to dry). Two end pieces a maple with bark left on. Next two strips are maple end grain and middle is acacia end grain. It is a small cutting board and it doesn’t look like much right now. We’ll see when it is completed. Hopefully tomorrow night. I am afraid that different types of wood and different cuts will react on temperature changes at different rates and create some cracks. It was very cold in the shop today so I brought it in the house tonight to see if any cracks show up.

This is new platen for disc sander. I glued black melamine on the front so the PSA sandpaper can be easily attached and replaced when needed.

I picked up two used motors. They are a lot heavier then I expected but anyway I will use one for disc sander instead of pump motor.

Today is not about woodworking. While taking some photos for this website and my Etsy shop RK Design Garage I started to learn more about macro photography. Here are some pictures using new lens.

and some more I am taking right now. I am not using tripod so photos are little blurry. Probably you can recognize where these details come from.

The plate with sand paper is mounted on the motor. It isn’t  balanced yet but it works. I ordered a few flanges to secure the plate to the shaft. Now I need to figure out the rest of the machine. Fortunately there is plenty info on the web.

Finish on the tray is drying and small box is done. I’ll have to put some kind of  handle on the box cover so it can be opened easier.
